>>> All work and no play? Never.

You will find that much of our success as a firm is directly related to the high caliber of employees who choose Olsson Associates. Our employees are smart, visionary people, and that makes it fun to come to work each day.

But enjoying and being successful at work each day is just one facet of living a full and productive life.

Time to play and be rejuvenated is important, too. There is always some company-sponsored event to look forward to--a Royals game in Kansas City, a Rockies game in Denver, a friendly softball, volleyball, bowling, kickball, or dodge ball competition, a lake cruise in Minneapolis, or indoor office golf tournaments.

We also come together through our Community Builders program, which encourages employees to become involved in their communities on a deeper level--by serving on boards, participating in fundraisers, and joining professional and civic organizations.

>>>> How do you find balance in your life between the pressures of school, work, family, and friends?

This is something that is constantly changing. Whether it's a design project for school or construction drawings for work, every project has a different deadline, which causes the balance to shift. I have to reserve weekend nights for friends; everyone needs time to be completely shut off from school and work. Don't do it, and you will go crazy. Between work and school, I admittedly have not seen as much of my family as I would like, but being family they are very understanding that time is at a premium right now and more of it will become available after graduation. To summarize how I find balance in my life, I understand that the relationships between work, school, family, and friends are dynamic relationships, ones that will change week to week, month to month. I have to push through the times that are heavy on school and work in order to get to the more enjoyable, relaxing time with family and friends.- Zack Fergus, Landscape Architect Intern, Lincoln NE
